Question

Answer

Do you come to us or do I come to you? What is a travel fee?

We are an on-location hair and makeup service team, which means we come to the comfort of your hotel, condo, home, or event location to save you time and the stress of extra driving. The travel fee is an industry standart to cover the cost of mileage and travel time to location, parking fees, or bell desk services.

How far in advance do you need to know if more people would like services?

While I always try to accommodate everyone who'd like services, I do like to know at least 2 months in advance. This way I can arrange a proper time frame to accommodate every service, or determine if I need to bring another available stylist to accommodate a large group. If anyone decides to receive services the day of, we will first take care of the previously booked clients before adding them in.

I would like to get hair extensions, but would like to buy them in person. Where would you recommend I buy hair extensions? Do I need to do anything with the extensions before bringing them to you?

I would start with your local hair stylist or salon, since they should know of a beauty supply store nearby. Sally’s Beauty Supply is a well known chain in most cities. 100% human hair clip-on extensions are the best to work with for temporary placement.

If you can have them cut to match your hair length that would be helpful. If you’re wearing your hair all down for your wedding, you can also have your local hair stylist layer them to match your haircut.

What is conventional foundation vs. airbrush foundation?

Conventional foundation is your traditional liquid foundation. I use either Makeup Forever’s line of Face or Body for light coverage, or HD line for full coverage. This is finished with a pressed powder and setting spray.

Airbrush foundation is a liquid foundation that is applied through a professional airbrush gun and compressor. I use Temptu airbrush foundation that is the highest quality silicone-based makeup formula on the market. The silicone formula provides a natural, dewy finish for a healthy, youthful glow on any skin type. It provides a long lasting all-day wear, even through most tears and sweat. It's oil free, non-comedogenic, and hypoallergenic. Also, it tends to photograph better than traditional foundation. You can apply it either as light coverage, or you can build for full coverage. This is also finished with a pressed powder and setting spray.

The ladies in my party might change from a blowout style to an up style, or vice versa. Is that okay to change the day of the wedding? And what if it's just a simple style. Do you charge accordingly?

Yes, I'm happy to change direction with any hairstyle, but please make sure they know to have either dry hair for an up style or wet hair for a blowout style. Also, a blowout style does not involve a curling iron or any pinning of the hair. The only exception is if the hair is around ear or chin length, then I’m happy to curl with a curling iron for extra volume and hold. Since there are so many variables that can go into a hair style (length/thickness of hair, complexity of the style, personal specifications, etc), the amount of time that's required for a style is highly variable as well. Given this, I've found it's easier to charge a flat fee for styling as opposed to a multi-tiered price structure.

I have a large bridal party, when do you bring a second or third stylist?

In general, I prefer to do about 4-6 services myself (for example: either 3 hair and makeup or 6 hair only or 6 makeup only). For larger bridal parties, I would bring as many of my team hairstylists or makeup artists to accommodate your group and timing of when you needed everyone ready by.

Would you recommend a hair and/or makeup trial ?

I wouldn't always say a trial is necessary as it really depends on the unique style you're going for. I feel very confident with a wide range of looks and styles, and I am comfortable with not doing a trial beforehand if it doesn't work with your schedule. That said, I've never had a bride regret doing a trial, so if you have any concerns, or would like to get your vision before the big day to eliminate any stress, I am more than happy to schedule a trial at any time.

How do I confirm my date?

Your date will be confirmed as soon as I receive the contract and deposit through my online booking form that is sent as soon as availability is confirmed. Due to many inquiries, if I don't hear from you or receive a contract/deposit after one week of your initial inquiry, your date will be released.

When is the final payment due?

The final payment is due the week before your event or shoot. I accept Venmo (@hairandmakeupbyheather, check, or credit card. Any upgrades (eyelashes, airbrush, etc.) will be collected the day of event.

What if changes need to be made after contract is signed? What is your cancellation policy?

Changes to contract can be made one month prior to the day of event. Any cancellations that are made within 30 days of the event will be subject to a 50% cancellation charge of services that were contracted. Cancellations on the day of event will be be charged for the full amount.
